Description: The Zaffarano Prize, a university-level award recognizing outstanding scholarly publications, was awarded to Araz Hasheminezhad during the annual Sigma Xi Initiation and Awards Banquet, held on Thursday, May 7 in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union. Hasheminezhad is the first ever member of the CCEE department to receive this honor since the award began in 1988. The award committee commended Hasheminezhad for “the quality, originality, and impact of your research, including your contributions on innovative geosynthetics manufactured from recycled plastics for sustainable and resilient infrastructure, as well as your strong record of publishable scholarship.”
