“The mark I would like to leave in the world is to help the average user achieve online privacy without having to use several complex applications. So, it would be a goal of mine to help contribute towards projects that increase users’ privacy.”
Valuable hands-on learning experience: My internship was the most valuable hands-on experience since it allowed me to see how concepts that are taught within the classroom are applied in the real world.
Most influential mentor: Julie Rursch, associate teaching professor of electrical and computer engineering. During her classes, she always went above and beyond to ensure that students not only understood the topics being discussed but also how they were used within the business world.
Best memory: Working on a group project, trying to create a parking availability application. I really enjoyed working on this application since it pushed me to learn more about development and how to secure the app.
Making my mark on the world: The mark I would like to leave in the world is to help the average user achieve online privacy without having to use several complex applications. So, it would be a goal of mine to help contribute towards projects that increase users’ privacy.
Engineering like a Cyclone Engineer: In my opinion, being a Cyclone Engineer means that you leverage not only your engineering skills but also your research skills. During my class projects, I learned how crucial it is to be able to research complex topics and be able to generate solutions to solve the problems at hand.
I think the most unique thing about being an Iowa State engineer is learning the mindset of how crucial research and design skills can be when trying to solve engineering problems.
