Madison Drent and Rachel Schmerbach receive Dean’s Leadership Award

The College of Engineering Dean’s Leadership Award recognizes outstanding undergraduate juniors and seniors who show exemplary leadership outside of a single department or organization. Madison Drent, junior in materials engineering, and Rachel Schmerbach, senior in aerospace engineering, are this year’s recipients.

Flexible, stretchy, conductive: New class of liquid metal soft composites for wearable electronics

A team led by Iowa State University’s Michael Bartlett has created a new composite, called a liquid metal programmed elastomer (LMPE), where liquid metal can be loaded up to 70% in precise, programmable patterns throughout the material.
