Three engineering postdocs win research and seed funding awards
Three Cyclone Engineer postdoctoral research associates won research awards and funding from the Iowa State University PostDoc Association. Azahar Ali, postdoc in electrical and computer engineering, won a Postdoctoral Scholar Research Excellence Award. Timothy Morgan, postdoc in mechanical engineering, and Fei Lu, postdoc in materials science and engineering, both have won Postdoctoral Seed Grant funding support.

ME professor awarded patent for lignin conversion process
Mechanical Engineering Assistant Professor Xianglan Bai has been awarded a patent for a process she has developed to convert lignin into precursors of biofuels and chemicals. While it might sound cliché, it’s also true. The future of our industry will be defined by young people in college and apprenticeships today. What do they expect from and will contribute to a career in the architecture, engineering and construction industry? We put those questions, and many more, to members of the National Design-Build Student Championship team from Iowa State.
