Post-doc Shangyan Zou in AerE guest seminar September 13

A new post-doctoral researcher in the Department of Aerospace Engineering will be the department’s next guest seminar lecturer September 13.

Dr. Shangyan Zou will present “Optimal Control of Wave Energy Converters” at 2:10 p.m., 1235 Howe. Zou’s research interests include optimal control of wave energy converters and space trajectory optimization.

Zou has come to Iowa State University from Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) where he received an M.S. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from that school’s Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing, China. At Michigan Tech he worked with Dr. Ossama Abdelkhalik, who recently joined the Iowa State University Department of Aerospace Engineering as an associate professor.
