Camille Sloan Schroeder, Iowa State Engineering community outreach manager, will represent ISU College of Engineering at national conference

Camille Sloan Schroeder from Iowa State University Engineering Community Outreach has been chosen to present multiple sessions at the national Project Lead The Way (PLTW) conference – PLTW Summit 2016 – in Indianapolis next month.

PLTW, a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for K-12 students and teachers across the U.S., serves more than 8,000 schools and 1 million students. Iowa State University College of Engineering serves as an affiliate university and offers support and professional development for the K-12 STEM programs.

PLTW Summit 2016 will gather more than 1,500 attendees – including educators, students, and leaders from the business and government sectors – March 20-23, 2016. In over 150 presentations, presenters will share strategies and best practices on empowering and engaging students to develop the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in their careers and lives. Attendees will learn innovative approaches for making classroom learning relevant, engaging, and hands-on, as well as connecting industry and community partners to learning.

Schroeder will present three sessions at the conference including best practices for PLTW school administrators, enhancing school brand through PLTW efforts and strategies for professional school counselors in promoting STEM education.

PLTW Summit 2016 also includes an impressive list of keynote speakers –

  • Daymond John, entrepreneur and television personality on the ABC show Shark Tank;
  • Marion Blakey, president and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America and former administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration;
  • John Urschel, mathematician and Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman; and,
  • Jason Silva, futurist and host of National Geographic’s Brain Games.
