The students in Iowa State University’s Associated General Contractors group like working with their hands. So much so that last year, they logged more than 4,600 hours of community service building homes and renovating buildings.
But the group of more than 100 ISU students — primarily construction engineers — is doing a new kind of charity this holiday season. They’ve “adopted” an Ames family and are raising money to buy their Christmas gifts.
