Blizzard Family Scholarship available for incoming ConE freshmen

The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) offers the Blizzard Family Scholarship for incoming Iowa State construction engineering freshmen during the 2012-13 academic year. Although this year’s scholarship monies are undetermined, three $4,000 scholarships went to students for the 2011-12 academic year.

To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must major in construction engineering, demonstrate financial need, be a resident of Iowa or Illinois, demonstrate a high school GPA of between 2.5 and 3.25, volunteered in high school clubs or service organizations, participated in high school athletics, or engaged in music/theatre arts.

The applicant must send a one- to two-page, double-spaced document describing personal qualifications and activities as reflected from above to April Franksain; Iowa State University Construction Engineering; 382 Town Engineering Building; Ames, IA, 50011. You may also email your document to twerp@iastate.edu. Papers must be submitted by Tuesday, July 31.

Awards will be applied to the students’ university bill – half in the fall semester and half in the spring semester. Recipients of the scholarship will be informed by August 20, 2012, of whom must write a letter to the scholarship donors upon selection.

The Blizzard Family Scholarship was established in 2005 by Harry Blizzard (BSCE’51). The scholarship encourages and assists students who are interested in the construction engineering profession and committed to serving Iowa State University and their community.
