IPAT wins Department of Energy contest

Iowa Power Atomization Technologies (IPAT), a startup company based in Nevada, Iowa, was selected as a winner for the Department of Energy’s Next Top Energy Innovator competition.

The company, run by materials science and engineering graduates and postdoc research associates Joel Rieken and Andy Heidloff, was among three companies announced as winners after a public vote and expert review of 14 participating organizations.

The winning teams for this year’s competition will be featured at the premier annual gathering of clean energy investors and innovators around the country, the 2012 ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit, at the end of the month.
