Alok Bhandari, an associate professor in agricultural and biosystems engineering, is leading a multiyear project to test how well bioreactors remove nitrates from the water that comes from tile-drained fields. In order to promote a more sustainable agriculture, the goal of this project is to facilitate adoption of nitrogen management practices in Iowa and the Upper Mississippi River Basin.
