Honey Creek Resort State Park to be home for Iowa State solar house
After successfully competing in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., Iowa State University’s student-designed and built solar house has found a permanent home: Honey Creek Resort State Park at Rathbun Lake in southern Iowa. Read The Tribune’s story and the Iowa State University news release.
In a story released on Friday, October 16, Popular Science credited Interlock House, Iowa State’s entry into the Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon just finishing on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., with an R40 door–”almost a wall,” according to ME grad student Tim Lentz. In a related story from The Tribune, read about Iowa State’s 12th-place finish in the Solar Decathlon, one they’re proud of for a first attempt!
In addition, the October 18 Des Moines Register carried this post on the Opinion page. And ecohome magazine had a story on the Interlock House as well.
