Gilbert gives talk on interdisciplinary research

Stephen Gilbert, assistant professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, gave a keynote address on the challenges of interdisciplinary research at the Graduate and Professional Student Research Conference at Iowa State this spring.

Gilbert’s talk, “The Pros and Cons of Interdisciplinary Research”, focused on the challenges researchers face as well as useful traits of an interdisciplinary researcher. He highlighted the steps Iowa State is taking to encourage interdisciplinary research as well as projects in which he has been personally involved.
