County Engineer Paulson earns top Iowa award

Carroll County Engineer Dave Paulson, who graduated from Iowa State University in 1972 with a degree in civil engineering, earned one of the top honors in his profession — The Outstanding County Engineering Achievement Award.

The Iowa County Engineers Association presented Paulson this award on Dec. 11 during a conference in Ames. The award is presented for outstanding technical and professional achievements.

Paulson served as an assistant county engineer in Carroll from 1971 to 1977, and he has been county engineer in Carroll since 1985. He was the county engineer in Independence for Buchanan County and worked briefly in the private sector.

“Dave’s an immense talent and the envy of a lot of other counties,” Carroll County Supervisors Chairman Mark Beardmore said. “He’s really done a great job for us through the years, and it’s nice to see him get recognized.”
