What the power industry has to learn about cyber vulnerability disclosure

IEEE, the world’s largest professional association advancing technology for humanity, published the January edition of the IEEE Smart Grid Newsletter, which kicks off the new year with a look at what the power industry has to learn about cyber vulnerability disclosure and mitigation in software. Of equal significance are articles on ensuring interoperability amongst products from multiple vendors and what distribution utilities can do to evolve today’s distribution networks to smart distribution systems. The current issue is available online at no cost at the IEEE Smart Grid Web Portal.

Manimaran Govindarasu, professor in electrical and computer engineering (ECpE) at Iowa State, as well as Adam Hahn, a student member of IEEE and an ECpE doctoral student at Iowa State were contributors to the IEEE Smart Grid Newsletter. Govindarasu and Hahn co-author an article that focuses on cyber security disclosure and how future technology could increase potential impacts from software vulnerabilities.
