Engineering company donates $5,000 to college

The Black & Veatch Corporation recently donated $5,000 to the College of Engineering through its Building a World of Difference Foundation.

The check was presented at this spring’s Engineering Career Fair by Jeff Kloster and the Black & Veatch college recruiting team. Ron Cox, associate dean for extension, accepted the check on the college’s behalf.

Of the $5,000 donation, $3,000 will be designated for the mechanical engineering course Applied Methods in Sustainable Engineering for International Development. The remaining $2,000 will be designated for women’s programs in civil, construction and environmental engineering.

Black & Veatch continually supports collaborative research activities between Iowa State’s environmental engineering programs. In 2008, the company gave a similar donation to the nuclear engineering efforts and initiatives of the college’s mechanical engineering department.

The Black & Veatch Corporation is a leading global engineering, consulting, and construction company.  Through its Building a World of Difference Foundation, the company coordinates charitable donations to organizations and programs that focus on efforts to improve the areas of education, health, and human services; the environment; and public safety and emergency services.
